Jennifer found this exercise is a must. Try some new wave music, light Jazz, Cajun or even talk radio, not depressing talk of course. Find and collect happy music only. If your in a situation where you have no choice in music, mentally tune into a task at hand or plan a future project. Avoid getting caught up in sad lyrics at all costs! If you have been listening to the same sad music... you probably are starting to believe the lyrics by now... thinking the words were written just for you! If you dwell on sad hopeless lyrics, you will start to believe it's hopeless and it is not hopeless! Those lyrics are written to sell records! You don't need those sad songs now. Put them away or change the radio station to something more pleasant. You can always listen to those sad songs when you have recovered from your depression... that is if you still want to. Don't worry we don't plan to take any of your security blankets away from you, we just want you to work with us and put sad music away for now. We know as of yet you may not have had a chance to exercise all the positive re-frames, mental tools and motivational exercises in this site. Doing so will be very beneficial to you. FEEDBACK If you have a favorite upbeat tune please share it with all of us.
